Pancake Breakfast Club: A Pancake Breakfast for Clubs

Over the weekend CivicLex hosted a gathering called Pancake Breakfast Club which was (surprise) a pancake breakfast for clubs!

We invited all the clubs and groups that partnered with us last fall for our screening of Join or Die Film to come and set up a table. Then, we invited our community to come, eat some free pancakes, and chat with clubs they might not know. The whole thing didn't cost more than $500, and we served pancakes to over 150 neighbors.

At the event, we also announced a new minigrant pilot we're launching next week to bring together clubs (cross club collaboration as they say). We'll award 3-5 grants of $500 to any two clubs that want to host an event together.

It's fun finding simple ways to bring folks together. Importantly, in my opinion, we didn't need a grant to do this, we funded it with some reserves and community donations. All in, $2-3k and some staff time to try some experiments around clubs that we wouldn't have started without the inspiration from Pete Davis and Sam Pressler. Now, who knows, maybe it'll be a permanent part of our work.
